'We won't be in touch': 30-year-old tells roommate he's never going to speak to him when they move out, causing tension at home

Roommates are difficult. They can really make or break your quality of life. There's nothing better than coming home to good roommates who you enjoy, who you can talk to about your troubles, who you can have a social life with from the comfort of your home. But when you come home to bad roommates and feel like you have to make a direct run for your bedroom upon entering, then you know you have a problem. 

In the story below, the protagonist has been living with his roommate for a few years, which is a long time to live with someone. He claims they have no communication. When his roommate casually drops that in 5 years they won't live together, but will still keep in touch, the protagonist immediately gets heated and informs him that there's no way they'd be in touch.
